For Chad's Birthday, Emily planned a surprise trip to Hearst Castle in San Simeon, CA. This home of William Randalph Hurst was an up-scale hang-out for many movie stars, dignitaries and celebrities during the early 1900's. We stayed in town at The Morgan Hotel, appropriately named after the Architect of the castle, Julia Morgan.

Labor day weekend, we discovered The Great Balloon, in orange county. After waiting a couple of hours for a lift, wind conditions worsened and the rides were cancelled for the remainder of the afternoon.
We then visited The Discovery Cube where we had a great time learning about science.
We then made our way back to the Great Balloon in hopes of catching an evening ride. After another hour and a half wait, we finally got what we came for. View our photo slideshow of our fun day.
